An automotive company
In-car CD device automatic assembly line
Efficient · Precise · Intelligent · Stable
Project Overview
This case is a fully automated assembly line for in-car CD players of an automotive company, covering the entire process including feeding, wire routing, heatsink installation, left and right bracket installation, decorative panel installation, PCB installation, top cover installation, wire bundling, and unloading. The production line adopts a modular design and integrates precision assembly, automatic fastening, in-line inspection, and data traceability technologies, with "efficient, precise, intelligent, and stable" as its core characteristics, helping automotive electronics manufacturers improve production efficiency and product quality.
Challenges Faced by the Customer
Before project initiation, the customer faced the following core issues in their in-car CD player production process:
• Numerous assembly steps and complex processes: The in-car CD player involves precision assembly of multiple components including heatsinks, brackets, decorative panels, PCBs, top covers, etc., with over a dozen steps—manual operations are prone to missing or incorrectly installing parts.
• Difficulty ensuring quality consistency: Torque for screw fastening, wire harness extraction length, and clip fastening depend on manual judgment, making it difficult to standardize and resulting in fluctuating defect rates.
• Data traceability challenges: Production data is scattered across processes without a unified recording and correlation mechanism; when quality issues arise, it is difficult to quickly locate the specific batch or station.
• Production takt time constrained by manual labor: The efficiency of manual assembly has an upper limit, making it difficult to meet year-on-year production capacity increases.
Solution and Core Processes
We custom-developed a fully automatic assembly line for in-car CD players, covering the following core processes:
Feeding and Wire Routing Station
The main body is automatically conveyed to the production line via the feeding mechanism, with accurate positioning to ensure stable takt time. Wire harnesses are automatically pulled out and temporarily fixed, preparing for subsequent assembly and ensuring neat and reliable routing.
Heatsink and Left/Right Bracket Installation Station
The heatsink is precisely installed to the designated position and press-fitted to ensure heat dissipation effectiveness and structural strength. Left and right brackets are automatically installed and fixed with screws or clips, ensuring a robust structure and consistent assembly quality.
Decorative Panel and PCB Installation Station
The decorative panel is automatically assembled to the front of the product to enhance appearance quality, ensuring proper installation without damage. The PCB is precisely installed and fixed, completing electrical connection preparation to ensure functional reliability and stability.
Top Cover Installation, Wire Bundling, and Unloading Station
The top cover is automatically installed and bundled to ensure sealing and structural strength, improving overall product quality. The bottom bracket is installed and full-unit inspection is completed; qualified units are automatically unloaded and sent to packaging or the next process.

Solution Advantages
• Increased production efficiency: Automated continuous operation shortens production cycles and significantly boosts capacity.
• Ensured product quality: The combination of precision assembly and in-line inspection effectively reduces defect rates.
• Reduced operating costs: Minimized manual intervention lowers labor and management costs while improving equipment utilization.
• Stable and reliable operation: Modular design ensures stable equipment performance, easy maintenance, and long service life.
• Industry requirements met: Satisfies the high standards of the automotive electronics industry, helping customers enhance competitiveness.
• Data traceability: Real-time collection of production data supports traceability and analysis for continuous improvement.
Project Results
After delivery, the automatic assembly line achieved fully automated continuous operation from bulk material feeding to finished product unloading, significantly shortening production cycles and greatly increasing capacity. The combination of precision assembly and in-line inspection effectively controlled product consistency and reduced defect rates. The modular design enables quick changeover, accommodating the production needs of various in-car electronic products. Real-time collection and correlation of production data ensure quality traceability, providing data support for ongoing process optimization and management decision-making—receiving high recognition from the customer.
